After all that has been said and done by both sides
including an impassioned plea by the CEO of the National Rifle Association to
protect our nation’s school children (just watch the media go berserk over this), it will be business as usual as the
lawmakers will soon go after guns (again) as the root of all evil.
There will be no enlightened
approach to helping correct the problems of mental illness mainly because it’s
not the neat thing to do. No armed
guards in schools (deemed too expensive even though out nation spends billions
to protect the citizens of other countries). No renewed effort to try and mend the wrecked system that is our
mental healthcare facilities. And no
serious attempt to curb the wholesale violence that comes from both Hollywood and the video
game industry.
Instead our great ‘leaders’ in Washington will be forming a
special committee to oversee the creation of massive new regulations to add to the
twenty thousand odd laws that relate to guns already on the books. Maybe, they reason, if they do enact more restrictive laws on gun ownership then this whole problem of unstable
people will go away. And, while they're at it, perhaps they can create yet another Federal
bureaucracy to implement and oversee all those new regulations, (like we’re all too stupid not to know how that will turn out).
As the collective head of our government, these clueless wonders will continue with the ‘sane’ approach of supplying armed
guards to protect our President and the money in our banks, while at the same time, they will ignore defenseless children and
adults who huddle together in open spaces. But hey! That's the 'sane approach' from a group of individuals that can't even balance a budget...
